Concertina/Accordion books

I had a bash at creating my own concertina book this week. I only used a few pages which I decorated with some tarot card designs, after reading Hutchins comment that a Tarot deck, when read in order is something of a philosophical treatise and can be considered a book of sorts. For the covers and decorative papers I just used what I had handy.

The cover and spine

Inside with spine removed and pages extended

This isn't exactly a polished finished product, but I was glad of the opportunity to learn a bit more about how these books are constructed. After creating this book, I went hunting on the web for concertina books created by artists and wowee am I impressed! Some examples are below:

Dianne Longley, Remember to Live, Remember to Die, 2008, inkjet prints on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 188gsm paper, 21 x 378cm (when open).
